Irakli Kobakhidze: we will share all the remarks reflected in the Venice Commission final opinion

“We will share all the remarks reflected in the Venice Commission final opinion”, - the Speaker stated and elucidated that the preliminary opinion will be submitted to Venice Commission with comments. 

The comments by the ruling party can change a lot. “Why we speak about the opinion being preliminary? – because preliminary opinion is submitted for comments. Our comments can change a lot; besides, it provides some technical gaps which may be related to translation problems. The final document will be formulated immediately after we have the final opinion of Venice Commission reflecting all the recommendations which will be shared by the Parliament”.

The ambitious statement about sharing the Venice Commission recommendations was made due to the positive political will. “We made the ambitious statement regarding sharing the Venice Commission recommendations as we had a positive goal. It was our positive political will implying that we wanted to establish absolutely proper and improved Constitution and administration system. It allowed us studying the Venice Commission recommendations. If we wanted to establish the Constitution imperfect in any form we will not make this statement”.

The ruling party and Venice Commission share positions on main issues, including electoral system. “We have none of the fundamental contradictions. We and Venice Commission share positions on main issues, including on electoral system. We fully share the remarks concerning the electoral system and are ready to revise it taking the Venice Commission recommendations into account”.
