Irakli Kobakhidze: transition to the proportional system is necessary

“The current system creates high risks and threats. We want to prevent risks in long-term run and hence, my subjective position in capacity of a mere Member of Parliament is that it is not only expedient but necessary to transit to the proportional system. This is my position”, - the Speaker stated at the briefing. 

The Majority has dissent about the proportional system, though consultations are being held. “Yesterday, we considered this issue within the Majority format. We had a significant objection within Majority regarding the proportional system. However, I believe that we still can achieve consensus. Let me once again express my position about necessity of transition to the proportional system and we continue principal discussion of the issue in the Majority”.
