Venice Commission Has no Comments on Chapter about President
“Experts of the Venice Commission will have no critical or other remarks regarding the chapter about the President” - the Chairman of the faction - Georgian Dream, Mamuka Mdinaradze said about the draft constitutional law in Berlin today.
Experts of the Venice Commission did not express any comments with regard to the powers, functions of the president. On the contrary, there was a remark that in a parliamentary system, the President should not have some of the functions and there was a minor discussion in that regard. Overall, experts of the Venice Commission will not have any critical or other comments with regard to the Chapter about the President”, - Mamuka Mdinaradze said.
He mentioned that the remark referred to the power of granting nationality.
“One of the issues was related to granting nationality, that the President may not have such power considering the fact that pure Parliamentary republics do not often have a similar practice”, - said the chairman of the faction - Georgian Dream.
Fundamental human rights, judiciary, government, public finances and public security issues are being discussed during the second day of the Conference.
