The meeting of Irakli Kobakhidze with the Venice Commission Delegation
“The recommendations shared by the Venice Commission are positively perceived and accepted, practically totally considered and to be reflected in the final changes”, - the First Vice Speaker, Tamar Chugoshvili stated responded to media after the meeting of the Speaker with the Venice Commission Delegation.
The parties considered the Constitutional reforming and the changes the Parliament has to vote for the III reading in March.
According to T. Chugoshvili, the short visit of the Venice Commission experts serves exchange of the opinions about the last changes.
“Venice Commission is actively involved in the Constitutional changes taking active part throughout the process. We have sent the II reading version of the changes to the Venice Commission, serving for reflection of their recommendations to the text. It is a short visit serving exchange of the opinions about these changes. Naturally, the recommendations Venice Commission has shared are positively perceived and accepted, practically totally considered and to be reflected in the final changes”, - she noted.
Venice Commission will develop the document. “The brief document will probably be developed by the Venice Commission at the final stage in the mid of March. We expect a brief and positive evaluation of fulfilled pledge by the Parliament envisaging reflection of the recommendations provided in the final opinion of the Venice Commission in the Changes”.
She noted that the changes scheduled to be considered with the III reading in March improve the main changes and ensures full compliance with Venice Commission recommendations.
According to the Venice Commission Delegation member, JOSEP MARIA CASTELLÀ ANDREU, the visit to Georgia implies exchange of the opinions about the final changes.
“We do not initiate the discussion. Our visit serves for cognition of the course of the changes, which were informed about by the Speaker”, - he noted.
The Venice Commission will consider the developed report at the plenary session on March 16-17.
