Irakli Kobakhidze: opposition refuses to participate even in the compromise

According to the Speaker, the opposition expresses negative attitude to the consensus. He hoped for improvement of the political culture of the opposition by time.

“There are four recommendations offered by the Venice Commission and essentially, our Bill serves for reflection of the changes. We cannot understand that the opposition opposes to this process, these are the issues they have required. There are the issues of bonus, blocs etc. which were in their interest. I personally do not consider it expedient to maintain the blocs and annulment of bonuses, but it is the political compromise and the opposition does not even participate in it. We witnessed the same regarding the Ombudsman – we all agreed: Majority, NGOs, diplomats – all were concerned about the candidate, though the opposition did not support this candidate either. It shows the negative attitude of the opposition to the consensus, which naturally indicates to a low level of development of political parties. We hope they will improve their political culture”.
