The Venice Commission to endorse the final opinion on the Constitutional Changes tomorrow

The Venice Commission will endorse the final opinion on the Constitutional changes tomorrow, on October 6.

The plenary session will be attended by the Speaker, Irakli Kobakhidze to introduce the new edition of the Constitution and participate in the discussion.

The Speaker was hosted by the Venice Commission President, Gianni Buquicchio.

According to the Chief of the Speaker’s Cabinet, Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Venice Commission President hails the commitment of the ruling party to withdraw the bonus system and maintain the blocs in single manner and confirms that the ruling party has implemented all the conditions issued by the Venice Commission. 

On October 6, the Venice Commission holds the plenary session to introduce the final opinion about the Constitutional reform in Georgia. We have already met with the Venice Commission leadership to consider all the procedures and recommendations the Commission has to share. We confirmed our commitment to maintain the blocs in single manner and withdraw the bonuses and if the Presidential veto fails to envisage these issues, then the Majority is ready to re-initiate them. They hailed our commitment. The Commission also agreed that the condition concerning full consideration of the Venice Commission opinion is implemented because none of the norms is negatively estimated in this opinion”.
