Irakli Kobakhidze: “We were always open and committed for the discussion – it is our common aspiration expressed once again”
According to the Speaker, the ruling party always expressed openness and commitment for the dialogue with the opposition around the Constitutional changes and is committed now, though the attitude of the opposition complicates the dialogue.
“We always used to declare and reiterate our commitment for the dialogue and discussion and openness of the ruling party. However, the longer the opposition protracts the process, the complicated our task gets. Now, we are on the peak of the situation. Once again, I confirm our commitment and openness for the dialogue, though the expectation is not how deriving from the attitude of the opposition to the dialogue. It is our general position”.
The Speaker elucidated that the opposition did not share the offer by the ruling party to in writing submit the list of the issues in case of approval of which the opposition would support the Constitutional changes. Such position is counter-productive and impedes to the dialogue.
“We in writing appealed to the opposition parties to submit the written position regarding the issues in case of reflection of which in the document they would support the Constitutional changes, though instead they submitted the four issues in case of consideration of which they would agree on dialogue on other issues. Such position is counter-productive and impedes to the dialogue. It is our position. Unfortunately, it is the result of the attitude of the opposition. We were always open and committed for the discussion. It is our common aspiration expressed once again”, - the Speaker stated.
