The meeting of the Speaker with the Vice President of European Commission

The Speaker of Georgian Parliament, Mr. Irakli Kobakhidze visits Batumi to attend the 14th International Conference “Georgia’s European Way – Ensuring Regional Stability”. 

He held the meeting with the Vice President of European Commission, Maroš Šefčovič.

The Speaker thanked the guest for the visit and participation in the conference. He underlined that EU integration is strongly supported by Georgian population, enhanced with the recent tangible achievements.

The Speaker hoped that the historical will and choice of Georgian people to return to the European family will soon come true. In this view, Georgia conducts the ambitious reforms, including the Constitutional reform.

The Speaker introduced the 4-point Governmental plan and stated that development of energy, as one of the main components of provision of security of the country is the priority of the Government.

The parties discussed ongoing judicial reform as well. According to the guest, Georgia shall be once again recognized as the most successful reformer within EaP at the November EaP Summit. Europe will strive to at maximal extent reflect Georgian expectations in the Summit documents. He wished good luck to the Speaker in democratic reforming.
