The meeting of the Speaker with MEPs

The Speaker of Georgian Parliament held the meeting with the Members of European Parliament in Batumi. MEPs attend the International Conference “Georgia’s European Way – Ensuring Regional Stability”. 

At the meeting with Kati Piri, Eduard Kukan, Ana Gomes, Rebecca Harms, Arne Lietz and the Co-Chair of EU-Georgia Friendship Group, Clare Moody, the parties discussed EU and NATO integration of Georgia, as well as current developments in the country.

The Speaker thanked the guests for their support to Western aspiration of Georgia. MEPs estimated the progress of Georgia in EU and NATO integration and underlined the merit of Georgia in global security issues. The parties considered the ongoing Constitutional reform and the achievements the new edition ensures.

The Speaker reiterated that the ruling team is always ready for open and frank discussion with the European partners and friends, as well as to share their recommendations.

According to MEPs, Georgia enjoys a high image in EP and is recognizes as the most successful reformer within EaP. Speaking about democratization, the guests noted that Georgia has not only a strong opposition but the strong civil sector.

The parties agreed on close cooperation.
