The meeting of the Speaker with EU-Georgia Friendship Group Council members

Today, Irakli Kobakhidze held the meeting with EU-Georgia Friendship Group members.

The parties discussed EU-Georgia cooperation, ongoing processes in Georgia and democratic reforms, as well as Constitutional changes.

As the Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Tamar Khulordava stated, the Friendship Group platform will be actively used. 

“It was our first meeting with the Friendship Group Executive Council. We discussed future cooperation. It will be an active format we will use to make Georgia well recognizable for MEPs. MEPs actively cooperate with Georgia but there are some of them who have never been in Georgia and have no information about our achievements and reforming. We will use this platform to involve more MEPs in relations with Georgia”.

The parties touched upon ongoing processes and the Constitutional reform. “We spoke about the processes in Georgia and considered the Constitutional reform. MEPs asked about the Constitutional process and recent developments as our colleagues were actively involved in development of the Constitutional changes. We provided the information and spoke about the package adopted by the Parliament with the II reading. We touched upon assessments by the Venice Commission”.
