The meeting of the Speaker with the Venice Commission President and Secretary

“I believe jointly we will achieve the optimal decision for the population of Georgia”, - the Venice Commission Secretary, Thomas Markert stated after the meeting with the Speaker, Irakli Kobakhidze and Vice Speaker, Tamar Chugoshvili.

“We discussed the draft Constitutional Law regarding which we have been keeping the constant contact with Georgian Government. We cooperated and I believe jointly we will achieve the optimal decision for the population of Georgia”.

According to Mr. Markert, upper limit is a positive step.

The Vice Speaker, Ms. Chugoshvili spoke about the meeting with the Venice Commission President, Gianni BUQUICCHIO and Secretary, Thomas MARKERT.

“We had the opportunity to consider each change we tend to introduce to the draft Constitutional law in line with the Venice Commission opinion. We in details considered the electoral system. Mr. Markert and Mr. Buquicchio noted that this version and other changes we have introduced comply with their recommendation. I believe, we will later receive the written confirmation of this statement”.
